Jenna D.
Private tutor in Hauppauge, NY
Education
I hold a Bachelors Degree from Stony Brook University (2011) in Biology, and am currently in the process of getting a Masters in Teaching Biology from Stony Brook as well, and will graduate in May 2013.
Experience
I will graduate with a certificate to teach Biology and General Science, grades 7-12 in May. I love Science, and love explaining it even more. I am looking for more experience with students, and also to help students get through topics they find difficult, such as Biology. In high school, I was an AP scholar and graduated (in 2007) with 34 college credits! I can help students manage taking multiple AP classes at once, and provide helpful time management tips. - I have been a teaching assistant for two undergraduate Biology courses at Stony Brook (BIO 101- Introduction to Biology and BIO 103- introduction to Biotechnology) - I am a teaching assistant in Stony Brook University's Biotechnology Teaching Labs: middle and high school students come to campus and do a ~4 hour lab. Lab safety, equipment use, and basic concepts of Biology are taught. - I have also done some SAT tutoring. - I am a member of the AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science), AIBS (American Institute of Biological Sciences), NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) and STANYS (Science Teachers Association of New York State).
